Description | Letter from John Ellis, Gray's Inn, London, to David Skene with which he sends plate of a 'curious' plant with a description of its 'irritable glands'; he states that Lord Moreton asked him a shrewd question about whether the plant receives nourishment from the insects it catches; he describes his arrangement of sea-zoophytes; he refers to Solander's departure stating that Skene is the only person left who knows of 'this dark part of natural history', 24 September 1768. |
