Administrative History | Antoine Petit (1718-1794), French surgeon and anatomist |
Description | Letter from David Skene to his father, Andrew Skene, in which he comments adversely on lecture courses and conditions ('in all I have seen, there is nothing that is anyhow worth the expense and trouble but the dissecting alone'); he attends Petit's 'Course of Operations' but there seems nothing extraordinary in it; without doing midwifery lectures, he will 'practice a little with a Sage Femme'; the crowd and insolence of Mr Peruquier make attendance at the hospitals disagreeable and very often useless; he intends to come home soon as his money nears its end; he asks for advice on his route home and suggests he should spend some time in Edinburgh, 12 March 1753. |
