Administrative History | Hall Russell Shipbuilders & Company was founded in 1864 and became known for producing iron steamships as well as smaller trading vessels. During both world wars the company contributed to the war effort by building minesweeper trawlers and defence vessels. In 1977 it became part of the state-owned British Corporation Shipbuilders and was privatised in 1986, when it was classed as a war shipyard. The copmany closed in 1992. |
