eye operations - used pigs and sheep eyes;
uterine and vaginal surgery - includes a cutting from 'Proceedings of Societies', dated 17 March 1888, relating to 'Dr. Alexander's' operation. Annotated on page 184, 'On Saturday the 21st July, the surgery museum was thrown open for showing the surgical instruments from 10.a.m. to 12. noon'. Annotated on page 186, '24 July 1883 I was absent from Professional Engagement';
and plastic surgery - consists of over thirty lined, coloured drawings of plastic surgery 'methods', presumably drawn by Ogston, and taken from 'Konig vol 1 p. 218'.
In addition, Ogston's introductory lecture describes his practice of teaching operative surgery and his surgical methods:
'Introductory' - 'utility of operative surgery course operations are manipulations that have to be learnt. Anatomy is of value value has its limits wrong to operate anatomically surgeon must operate, not direct. Each operation has its rules these have to be learnt students should take notes what to note';
'Plan of course' - 'The operations will be described in convenient sequence. Students will perform them must cast aside diffidence and not mind failure these are needful training. Every students name put on a card card drawn for each operation student comes down & operates no applause or censure by class. Duplicate operations allotted by card performed in afternoon with Dr Davidson [and subsequent assistants]. Washing and disinfecting hands'.

'ways of holding knife' - 1. like pen, 2. like carving knife, 3. like sword, 4. like bow (of violin). Mentions 'don't dissect' with these methods and 'holding disector & cutting on it';
'incisions' - ends, vertical edges, keep same plane & avoid scoring;
'sutures' - design of sutures, 1. interrupted, faults, 2. harelip, methods, advantages, 3. continuous, buried sutures - drain, perplicated ends.
Ogston notes the 24 May 1883 as a holiday and occasionally refers to some classes as 'a long day'.
