Administrative History | Margaret Mackie Collins was born in Logie Coldstone on 2nd October 1905, the daughter of William I Collins, master shoemaker. Her father set up a shop in Lumphanan around 1906, however, poor eyesight dictated a move to take up a post as janitor at Breadlabane Academy in Aberfeldy. Collins returned north to attend Aberdeen University and graduated MA in 1927. Thereafter she taught maths at Queen Anne School, Dunfermline (1928-33), and at Leith Academy from 1940. She married Robert M Finlayson (d. 1940) in Perth, 24 July 1933. |
