DescriptionLetter to his cousin [George Gordon?] from John Gordon [of Glencatt], London, regarding plate left by his cousin’s brother, his cousin’s nephew and Gordon’s favours towards him, ‘he told me you never mentioned Religion to him for you was endued with too good sense to do it, this is an Expression à la mode here and uttered without any meaning the great point is to make him Christian the Spirit of Libertinism is too prevalent with him … as to Lady Carrington’s affair most certainly there will be something considerable due to your sister and nieces … your nephew seems bent on going to St Croix … your nephews at St Croix were well … I am sorry the Edinburgh air does not agree with you, the sulphur from the coals does not agree with every constitution’, illness of Mrs Gordon who needs constant attention, various financial transactions, 28 April 1764
