DescriptionCopy letter from Colonel Patrick Duff, Cawnpore, to Lt General Sloper, Commander-in-Chief, objecting to the way he has been treated in being removed from the field to the Presidency and enclosing a copy of his address to the Board of the East India Company to state his case, 23 June 1786; copy letter from Duff to Colonel Alexander Ross, asking for his support in his case and explaining the circumstances, 23 November 1786; copy of Colonel Ross’ response, with favourable news, news of his family in London and Scotland, and imminent arrival of a Mr Steuart, 7 December 1786; copy reply from Duff to Ross, thanking him and Lord Cornwallis for their help, complaints about Sloper, would still like to have his rank adjusted, hoping to be able to help Mr Steuart but it is not as easy as it used to be, 18 December 1786; copy letter from the secretary of the Board to Duff, confirming his allowances, 6 December 1786; copy minutes of the Board.
