Description | Correspondence with J.L Fairrie, Wargrave, Berkshire, regarding research on amino acids in oats and ground nuts, January - May 1947. Fairrie requests Kosterlitz's assistance on a consultancy basis, in finishing off work commenced by Dr W.E. Gaunt 'prior to his departure to the United States last August.' During the Second World War Fairrie 'turned out a considerable number of emergency ration bars for M.I.9. and also Special Ration Backs for the Air Force, S.E.A.C. ... Some 40 % of this ration consisted of a processed mixture of the oat and the ground-nut, lightly reinforced with dried skimmed milk'. He was now interested in determining 'the amino-acid make-ups of the oat and the ground-nut and their supplementary values' and 'whether the theory of valuable protein supplementation is applicable to this case.' Fairrie's research notes and Kosterlitz's analysis are attached.

Correspondence with Dr K. Fleischhauer, Anatomisches Institut, Neue Universitat, Kiel, November 1959 - August 1960. Kosterlitz encloses photographs of Fleischhauer and Feldberg on the moors above Balmoral, notes that he saw their demonstration at a recent Physiological Society meeting, discusses his summer holiday plans for 1960, including a visit to Fleischhauer in Kiel, and passes on references to Schild's work on the amnion. Fleischhauer's correspondence is in German.

Also brief correspondence regarding Frank's paper, 'Besitzt die Restreduktion bei der Blutzuckerbestimmung eine praktische klinische Bedeutung?', August 1950 (at this time Frank was based at the Universitats-Krankenhaus Eppendorf, Hamburg).
