DescriptionLetter from G. Kahlson, Department of Physiology, University of Lund, Sweden, thanking Kosterlitz for his hospitality during a recent visit to Scotland, 19 May 1955. Refers with interest to Kosterlitz's laboratory, his research on the isolated gut, his 'lecture in Toronto', thanks him for the reprints, and encloses copies of reprints from his institute.

Letter from B.Katz, Biophysics Department, University College London, regarding micro-manipulators, 1 May 1952. Suggests that the de Fonbrune is the best model for some purposes but notes that it has no separate controls for movement in one direction, which may be a disadvantage for some purposes. Also, thanks Kosterlitz for his recent letter and his 'kind congratulations'.

Letter from Ancel Keys, Laboratory of Human Nutrition, Churchill Hospital, Oxford, regarding a crossed cheque that he cannot use, 13 April 1952. Suggests other means of payment and apologises 'about this nuisance'. Also, briefly refers to a recent visit to Aberdeen.

Letter from K.S. Kim, Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research, University of Minesota Graduate School, regarding a job opportunity in Professor Harper's department and thanking Kosterlitz for his kindness, 29 April 1954.

Letter from Dr S.M. Kirpekar, Department of Physiology, University of Glasgow, enclosing reprints and stating that he has not heard anything from Dr Thompson about' isolated N.M. [Nerve Muscle] Preparation', 21 December 1963. With Kosterlitz's reply, 14 January 1964, explaining that Thompson had recently been appointed to the Chair of Pharmacology at Newcastle, offering to demonstrate the nerve muscle dissection up to a certain point, but stating that he has never used the isolated nerve muscle preparation.

Letter from Mr I. Koch, Hedera, Israel, seeking a post-graduate position in Kosterlitz's laboratory which would enable him to work towards a doctoral degree, 31 March 1965. With Kosterlitz's reply (positive), 22 April 1965.

Letter from Professor Charles D. Kochakian, The University of Alabama Medical Center, regretting that he will not be able to meet Kosterlitz during his forthcoming visit to Aberdeen, 15 June 1960.

Correspondence with Dr George B. Koelle, Department of Pharmacology, University of Pennsylvania, regarding mutual research interests in liver function, September - October 1956, and a review article entitled 'The pharmacology of intestinal movements' that Kosterlitz was invited to submit to 'Pharmacological Reviews', March 1962.

Letter from Dr K. Kiyomi, Department of Physiology, Downstate Medical Center, State University of New York, requesting instructions for 'a good assay technique [to measure] catecholamine in a small amount of blood', 21 June 1963. Refers fondly to time spent in Kosterlitz's laboratory in Aberdeen and expresses his pleasure that Niel Davidson will soon be joining his department in New York ('We certainly need a Scotch gentleman to teach our students good manners'). With Kosterlitz's reply, pointing him to a relevant article by Brown and Gillespie, 5 July 1963. Also referring to a recent fortnight spent in London, where he did 'some work with tritiated morphine' and forthcoming trip to Dublin to attend a meeting of the Pharmacological Society.

Correspondence with Professor W. Koll, Pharmakologische Abteilung, Medizinische Forschungsanstalt, Gottingen, regarding mutual research interests and plans for Kosterlitz to give a guest lecture at Koll's institute, October 1958 - July 1960. Koll's correspondence is in German, Kosterlitz's is principally in English.

Letter from Kosterlitz to Professor G. Kuschinsky, Pharmakologisches Institut der Universitat Mainz, regretting that Buttle's lecture programme for the Board of Studies in Pharmacology is very fully booked, that his own lecture programme in Aberdeen is also planned in advance, and hoping that suitable arrangements can be made at a later date, 3 October 1963. With Kuschinsky's reply, in German, 8 October 1963.

Correspondence with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana, regarding annual progress reports on their student, Mr E.A. Gyang, who was undertaking research post-graduate degrees in Aberdeen under Kosterlitz's supervision, June 1963 - June 1964. N.B. This correspondence remains closed under data protection legislation until 2018.
