(iii) Contract document for building a chapel at Longside. Listed in the NRAS survey as follows: Contract between John Moir in Longside and others as a committee of the Scots Episcopal congregation in Longside, and James Duncan, mason, and John Souttar, wright, both in Peterhead, for building and completing a new chapel on ground 'not far from the church' conform to a plan, elevation and explanation thereof subscribed by the two parties; except in lieu of a curved back wall it is to be straight with one window below and a circular window above 3 feet in diameter for lighting the galleries; the chapel to be 58 feet long and 34 feet wide over the walls, the walls to be 20 feet high above the soles of the doors; roof to be framed 4 feet below the square, with 3 principal couples and 2 half couples at each end; specification of joists, rafters, wall plates, gallery timbers and sarking; 'the seats, pulpit and Altar all plain work'; two large entry doors 'with gothic tops'; all wood and timber to be foreign, of good quality; slates from Easdale; the contractors oblige themselves to uphold and maintain the chapel for fifteen years; they are to be paid £429 sterling in instalments.
