DescriptionLetter from Amelia Nyasa Laws, Metz, to her relatives, regarding answering queries from the Legacy Duty officials on Uncle's will, they are trying to find out the likely annual income from it, they have enquired from Mr. Finnie about the family burial ground and have ensured that there is room there for Uncle Alec, anyway, which has relieved Aunt of one worry, after the expense of Uncle's funeral, busy week, distance from the station by car, walking often quicker but her knee is still bad, and she has recently twisted her ankle, they will eventually find accommodation nearer the station, the doctors are nearly all the the Avenue Marechal Foch, which is inconvenient if she has less than an hour between cases, her work is varied, a dressmaker with a neglected sprained ankle, opportunities for conversation during the sessions, the failure of the church to meet the needs of the post-war world, using the Brunels as examples, she is interested in studying the women (mostly women) now in her care, being used to nursing men, she is discovering solidity under surface frivolity, attending choir practice, Amelia's legendary calm in the face of Mme. Brunel's inexpert dictatorship.
