Mitchell (no address given), regarding Mitchell's 'London Letter' published in the 'Aberdeen Press and Journal' on 8 April, in which he referred to Sir Landbourough Thomson and his father Sir John Arthur Thomson. Lockhart discusses Sir John Arthur Thomson's ('The Prince of Lecturers') teaching skill and the regard in which he was held by his students, in particular their appreciation at his speedy marking and return of examination books, a characteristic adopted by Lockhart in his own teaching. |
