Description | Aberdeen Free Church College encouraged its students to participate in missionary work within Aberdeen. A mission field was chosen each session - a poor area in the city that would be likely to benefit from concentrated preaching, teaching, and charitable work. Students raised money and staff also contributed towards payments for a missionary and rented accommodation. The principal mission site was Shuttle Lane, off King Street, where the students had to confront the problems of poverty and prostitution in the course of running their mission. Records include minutes and some financial material. |
