Administrative History | Mary Esslemont represented the Federation of Great Britain and Ireland on the Soroptimist International Association's Committee for the Advancement of the Status of Women. Mme Elsa Sundling represented the European Federation and Mrs Lily E. Onalnberg was chairperson.
The Committee's duties, as laid down in the Soroptimist International Association [S.I.A.] constitution (and summarised in this paper), are: 1. To aid the S.I.A. in exerting its influence upon the United Nations Commission on the status of women. 2. To encourage Federations, through divisional unions and clubs, to influence governments to advance the status of women. 3. To make recommendations for advancing the status of women.
