Administrative History	It is not known whether this address dates from the 1935 general election campaign, or whether it relates to a by-election - possibly held during Ramsay MacDonald's 1929-1935 government. The candidate that Mary Esslemont is supporting is one 'Mr Scott,' of whom no further details have been established. Reference to a 'Spectator' article of 17 October 1931 certainly places it after this time.
Description	Election address in support of 'Mr Scott', reflecting upon the outcome of the 1929 general election and the factors which contributed to the establishment and failure of Labour's minority government, ? 1931-1935. War reparations, the economy, an unbalanced budget and a balance of trade deficit are all cited: the balance of trade deficit is considered in some detail.
