DescriptionManuscript diarydescribing Baird's return from Addis Ababa.

Baird is accompanied by [...] McKelvie, who had come to Abyssinia as a young man as a servant to the British Consul, Captain Charles Cameron, had been imprisoned by the Emperor Tewodros in 1864, and had subsequently settled down there. Description of McKelvi's history and experiences, and his views of the Ethiopians. Arrival in Debre Markos; description of the town and the welcome given to them by Queen Laketch. Meetings with Ethiopian officials and others along the way. The diary concludes with general notes on various topics, based on information provided by McKelvie.

A typed version of the manuscript is also present, and printed version is included in MS 3064/11/4 pages 69 to 95.
