Source | The collection was deposited in Aberdeen University Library in 1979 by Mrs Edith Harper, Craigie Park, Aberdeen, when the premises in South Constitution Street were being cleared. |
Description | Business papers of James Harper and Son, Slaters and Contractors, Aberdeen, including sales ledgers, day books, cash books, correspondence, invoices and papers concerning building work carried out at the University of Aberdeen. |
Appraisal | This material has been appraised in line with normal procedures. |
Accruals | None expected. |
Arrangement | The papers that survive are in reasonable condition but earlier record destruction meant that the archive was already uneven when taken in. It was, therefore, decided to sample the invoices and incoming letters and to destroy some of the files in these sections. Other groups were retained in their entirety. The firm has retained its post-1964 papers. |
