DescriptionLetter from Mary Beattie, Aberdeen, to Mrs Montagu, describing how Mr Beattie is recovering well after he broke his left arm, just above the wrist joint. Mrs Beattie says that in time, his arm will be straight again, and that Mr Beattie has been advised not to carry out his business for some weeks. Letter warmly thanks Mrs Montagu for her concern about the Beatties' health and mentions how Mrs Beattie's health has never been as good as it has been when she was staying with Mrs Montagu. Letter talks of Mrs Beattie's problems with her stomach and how she looks forward to spending the summer benefiting from the air and water at Peterhead. Mrs Beattie mentions that she is able to care for Mr Beattie; that she will never ask someone to write letters for her and that she hopes Mrs Montagu will continue to write her own letters too. Letter says that the second part of 'The Minstrel' is finished and Mr Beattie will send it under cover to Mr Montagu. Letter mentions that Mrs Montagu's health seems to be well and that James Hay Beattie is in good health.
