| Administrative History | John Laird was Regius Professor of Moral Philosophy at the University of Aberdeen from 1924-1946. Educated at the Grammar School in Aberdeen and Edinburgh University, he held appointments at St. Andrews, Dalhousie (Halifax, Nova Scotia) and Queen’s University, Belfast. His publications reflected his interests in moral philosopy and metaphysics and include: 'Problems of the Self' (1917), 'Study in Realism' (1920), 'An Enquiry into Moral Notions' (1935), 'Theism and Cosmology' (1940), 'Mind and Deity' (1941) and 'Philosophical Incursions into English Literature' (1946).
