Description | Documents signed by the three persons who preserved the Honours of Scotland from Cromwell's forces in 1652. Christian Fletcher, the wife of James Grainger, smuggled the Crown Jewels of Scotland out of Dunottar Castle with the assistance of the castle's governor, Sir George Ogilvy, and her husband buried them under the floor of Kinneff Church. The three documents had been separated from the rest of the Arbuthnott papers because of this historical connection, and were deposited with the University of Aberdeen in 1979.
