Administrative HistoryJohn MacDonald Henderson, junior (d.1924), was the son of John MacDonald Henderson, founder of the Aberdeen engineering firm now known as John M. Henderson & Co. Ltd., Kings Works, 207 King Street, Aberdeen. John M. Henderson, senior, was the nephew of John Henderson, lithographer and engraver, Aberdeen.

According to a note contained in the deposit file, J. Alan MacDonald Henderson's father's Great Aunt Ellen Campbell-Brown lived at Quarry Lodge in Aberdeenshire and was married to Professor James Campbell-Brown, DSC, LLD, at one time Professor of Chemistry at the University of Liverpool. His mother, Margaret Sinclair Taggart, was the eldest daughter of Sir James Taggart, granite merchant, Great Western Road, Lord Provost of Aberdeen, Lord Lieutenant and Admiral of the North Sea during and after the First World War.
SourceThe manuscripts were purchased by the University Library in June 1970 from J. Alan MacDonald Henderson, Padbury, near Buckingham, the son of John MacDonald Henderson, junior. They were acquired by his father from Mrs E. T. Campbell-Brown, daughter of John Henderson.

Physical DescriptionThe manuscripts are in fair condition. They were formerly contained in part in two pocket-books (MS 2761/14 and 15) measuring 16 x 11 cm. and 16 x 10 cm. respectively.
