| Description | Decreet of redemption Andrerw Fraser of Stoneywood against Robert Stewart. Old refs. (9). Extract by Gorge Hay, clerk register, of proceedings before Lords of Council at Edinburgh in action at the instance of said Andrew Fraser now heritable proprietor of barony of Carnbulg etc. by translation etc. from Alex. Fraser, sometime of Durris & Robert , his son, to whom they have been assigned by Sir Alex. Fraser of Fraserburgh, included is right to pursue declarator of redemption against Robert Stewart in Innernorth and William Stewart eldest son of him & the late Beatrix Cumming concerning redemption of 12 oxgang of Innernorth on south side thereof & 8 oxgangs occupied by John Birnie & 4 by Alex. Smyth, in parish of Rathen (charter of 4 July & 7 July 1609) On 2 April 1620, Stewart had been warned of intentions to redeem on 3 June 1620 for £1,000 Sc. & tack for one year thereafter. As no-one appeared for Stewarts on appointed day when money etc. offered by Andrew Fraser, younger of Stoneywood, on behalf of his father, these were consigned by him into the keeping of Mr William Forbes, minister of the kirk of Fraserburgh, Stewarts summoned to compear to hear declarator of redemption above mentioned being given. Lords now declare above lands to be redeemed & defendants are required to acknowledge this by granting renunciation etc. See 300/9 |
