| Administrative History | The union was formed in June 1936 on amalgamation of the National Union of Textile Workers, the Amalgamated Society of Dyers, Finishers and Kindred Trades, and the Operative Bleachers', Dyers' and Finishers' Association. It was joined by the Union of Jute, Flax and Kindred Textile Operatives in May 1979. An Aberdeen Branch was active between 1939 and 1965.
