| Description | Erroll, Earls of: three letters - 2 & 9 October 1837 and no date - respecting engagements with unnamed persons - were attributed by dealer to 18th Earl with dates 1823-1891, which are those of 19th Earl. The third, dated 22 November 1895, was attributed by dealer to 19th Earl, but refers to the 20th - succeeded 1891, b. a. 1855, d. 1927 - and is written from Slains Castle, Aberdeenshire, to unnamed correespondent, who is asked to recommend a French master with whom Lord Erroll could brush up his French in order to pass an examination before his appointment as A.D.C. to the new C. in C. can be confirmed. |
