Description | Two printed inscriptions written by James Gregory for a monument to King Robert Bruce at Bannockburn; one for the face of the monument most in view and another for a different side of the monument. The inscriptions mark King Robert's victory over King Edward II at the Battle of Bannockburn and of his wisdom and exertions in re-establishing the 'tranquility and welfare of this ancient Kingdom', early 19th century. |
