The Old Revolution Club was an Edinburgh society dedicated to the memory of the revolution of 1688, to the protestant religion and to civil liberties.
Description
Certificate of membership of the (Old) Revolution Club belonging to James Gregory (1753 - 1821), signed by Martin Moubray, Clerk to the Club, 16 November 1772.

Physical Description
The certificate carries a red wax seal attached to the document by orange and blue ribbons. The motto reads "Tandem Bona Causa Triumphat" and depicts a hand holding a heart with hands coming out of the heart to hold two crossed swords. On the point of the left sword is a crescent moon and on the point of the right hand sword is a fleur de lys. Holding on to the upper parts of each sword are two angels both holding a royal crown over a thistle in the middle of the triangle formed by the upper parts of the swords.
