DescriptionLetter from Professor Thomas Gordon, King's College, Aberdeen, to Dr John Gregory, London, expressing his condolences and his shock at the death of Gregory's brother, James (1707 - 1755), professor of medicine in King's College, Aberdeen, as they had seen nothing fatal in his illness; urging John Gregory to become a candidate for the vacant chair; students of the current session are a "set of creditable young men whose only view is to make advancement in their studies"; mentions the grief felt by himself and his wife at the death of their son and tells him that the girl who delivered the letter had looked after their boy and comes highly recommended, 17 October 1755.
