"Lauderdaill" is most probably John Maitland, Duke of Lauderdale (1616 - 1682) who was appointed Secretary of State for Scotland in 1660.
Description
Presentation by King Charles II appointing James Gregory to the professorship of mathematics at the University of St Andrews, with a salary of £50 sterling. He instructs James, the Archbishop of St Andrews and the Chancellor of the University, to appoint the time and place of his public lectures in mathematics for the benefit of the university, 25 June 1669.
The document contains a note summarising this for the benefit of the King prior to his signing of the presentation. It is signed by "Lauderdaill".
