Description | Letter from James Shaw Tytler, Woodhouselee, Rosslyn (scored out, and 22 [Gerry] Street written in), to Sir Philip Spencer Gregory thanking him for his gift of the 'Records' and giving him some more information regarding the McAulay family of Edinburgh. Annie McAulay had married into the Dunkirk Gregorys. Her father was the Lord Provost of Edinburgh and her sister was Shaw Tytler's great grandmother having married William Fraser of Balnain. He tells Sir Philip that he has a picture of Annie MacAulay in Woodhouselee, near Rosslyn. He also remarks that he is glad Sir Philip got in at the Athenaeum but that he does not suppose he was worried about it, 22 February 1888. |
