| Administrative History | Robert Rennie was born in 1767 and graduated MA from Glasgow University in 1781. He was licensed to preach in 1787, and ordained and presented to Kilsyth in 1789. He was awarded a DD by Marischal College, Aberdeen, in 1808, and was elected regent of the college in 1811. However, he was unable to clear his debts in Kilsyth and eventually turned down the post. He died in 1820. His interest in peat moss and manure led to the offer of the Chair of Agriculture at the University of St. Petersburg by Czar Alexander I (1777-1825). |
