Administrative History | David Dalrymple was nominated in 1760 and appointed civilist at King's College, Aberdeen, in 1763, following the death in office of James Catanach. He was the son of Hugh Dalrymple of Drummore, and was awarded an LL.D. by Edinburgh University in 1760.
Dr. William Thom, advocate in Aberdeen, was also nominated in 1760. David Dalrymple, later Lord Westhall, demitted in 1765 and William Thom was appointed. He died without issue in 1795: he had been assisted in his office by Dr. Alexander Dauney since 1793. |
