Description | A register of the weather, January 1805-December 1811. Each monthly entry records the daily temperature, observations on the sky, wind and rain, and any general observations or remarks (such as days he was away in London or a new moon). The highest and lowest point of the thermometer in the shade and in the open air or house is recorded, as is the number of days it rained or snowed or if the sky was clear or cloudy. It also records the proportion of sick for the month (for example, 1/30 for January 1805 (page 1)) and sometimes the prevailing diseases for the month (for example, remittent fever and pneumonia for June 1807 (page 30)).
