| Description | Medical Society Ordinary Account book. The date is recorded as 1863-1888 on the front cover but the volume actually covers the period from November 1862-November 1888. Half the volume is blank. The first entry in the volume is headed as follows:
'Account of the Intromissions of Francis Edmond, Advocate in Aberdeen with the Funds for Ordinary Purposes of the Medico-Chirurgical Society of Aberdeen from 11th November 1862 to 11th November 1863'. Under 'Charge' are recorded the sums accrued from entry monies, annual contributions and miscellaneous charges, totalling £72.16.5,1/2. Under 'Discharge' is recorded the expenditure on books, fire and light, wages, taxes and insurance, and miscellaneous discharges, such as the 18 shillings and 6 pence paid to James Smith for printing 2000 circulars. The entries thereafter record similar information. The accounts were overseen by a new Treasurer for the period 1867-1875, Dr. R. Beveridge, and by Dr. James Rodger, 1875-1886 and Dr. John Gordon, 1886-1888. |
