DescriptionSmall account book of the Aberdeen Medical Society, including note of fines paid by members for being late or absent. A note at the front of the volume reads: 'This is the account book of the Medical Society of Aberdeen from 1806 to 1808. For the first half of the time the Treasurer was Dr. Neil Arnott; for the latter part Dr. A. Rae. The expenditure is chiefly connected with the procuring of bodies for dissection, according to the methods of the time. The state of medical education in Aberdeen, at that period, is _ described in Bain's memoir of Neil Arnott, in the Transactions of the Aberdeen Philosophical Society; and the present volume is there made use of as illustrating the system, in one of its notable features'. [The author and date of this note is not recorded, but the handwriting suggests it was perhaps written in the late 19th century.]
