DescriptionMinute book of the Junior Class of the Aberdeen Medico-Chirurgical Society. The meetings were held in the Medical Hall.

6 November
Election of office-bearers: Mr. Gerris and Mr. Stephen elected Presidents; Mr. Forbes elected Secretary and Mr. Campbell elected 'Collector'.

20 November
Motion carried that 'instead of one of the examinations at the ordinary meetings there be held a debate on some medical subject'. Mr. Forbes examined on subject of peritonitis.

27 November
Criticisms made of grandiose speech given by a Mr. Sanderson in which he criticises the Secretary for being late.

4 December
Discussion of homoeopathy.

18 December
Paper read by Mr. Ogilvie on the treatment of phthisis by cold. It was decided to hold the next meeting on the 15 January due to the Christmas holidays.

Mr. Ogg examined on subject of dyspepsia, paper read by Mr. Stephen in favour of capital punishment and Mr. Cambell read an essay on hysteria 'enlivened by many practical allusions and moral reflections'.

Discussion regarding certificate of attendance to be given to Mr. Ross. 'At the same time the class severely reprobated the officiousness and uncalled for interference of Mr. Sanderson at a previous meeting in reference to this subject'.

12 March
Motion that the old custom of having a class supper at the end of the session should be reinstated carried. Examination on subject of absorption and sanguification and essay read on lithotomy.

21 March
Valedictory address delivered by Mr. Stephen.

3 May
Discussion about publication of address by Mr. Stephen and agreement to include it in thesaurus (see page 45). Also discussion about class supper and election of office-bearers.

10 May

17 May
Agreed that no meeting should be held on the following Tuesday as it was the Queen's birthday.

31 May
Motion that Secretary should write to Dr. Kilgour to ask when it would be convenient for him to deliver his Presidential lectures carried.
Motion that the medical discussions be abolished carried.
Motion that the Society meet once a fortnight during the summer session not carried.
Motion that the Society meet once a fortnight during period when Dr. Kilgour delivers his lectures carried.

Extraordinary meetings held to hear Dr. Kilgour's lectures on fever (pages 43-44).

28 June
Motion that 'the Junior Class…express it as their opinion that a collection of the articles of the Materia Medica should be made for the use of the students (under restrictions) so that they may become familiar with their physical qualities and that a request be forwarded to the members of the Senior Class to take into consideration the propriety of appropriating part of the funds of this Society for the furtherance of this subject'.
