3 November 1966: Society meeting. Three speakers addressed the Society: Dr. R. W. Strachan, Senior Medical Registrar, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary on 'Pulseless Disease', Dr. S. Deen Mohamed, Senior Medical Registrar, Aberdeen General Hospitals on some aspects of Vitamin B12 and Folic Acid Deficiency and Dr. M. J. Williams, Lecturer in Therapeutics, University of Aberdeen on Peroral Jejunal Biopsy (1 page).
17 November 1966: Annual Business Meeting. Various letters are enclosed following the minute of this meeting relating to the sale of the library and of the King Street premises including a letter dated 11 November 1966 from H. J. H. Drummond, University Librarian, offering to purchase the fifty-eight manuscript volumes of lecture notes on behalf of the Library.
12 January 1967: Council meeting. Enclosed: Minute of meeting between Society and University held on the 7 November 1966 detailing discussions relating to new premises at Foresterhill.
12 January 1967: Society meeting. Talk delivered by Dr. John M. Stowers, Consultant Physician: 'A Diabetic Miscellany'. He dealt with subject under three headings: 1. The value of diet, 2. A discussion on the various insulins now available, 3. Oral treatment of the diabetic state (1 page).
2 February 1967: Council meeting. A valuation of £208 had been received from Sotheby's for the Cullen and other manuscript lecture notes. It was agreed not to proceed with the sale of these items at this time. A copy of the valuation from Sotheby's is enclosed.
2 March 1967: Council meeting. Agreed to offer volumes by Bell and Lind for sale to Dr. Poynter of Wellcome Library for price of £500 and £150 respectively.
10 May 1967: Special meeting of Council to discuss draft minute of lease between the Society, the Secretary of State for Scotland and the University Court (copy enclosed). [Also see special meeting of Council, 23 August 1967, and discussion of cost of proposed move.]
1 June 1967: Society meeting. Professor Millar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Aberdeen delivered talk: 'Basic Medical Education'.
26 October 1967: Council meeting. Reference to articles in Press and Journal newspaper regarding sale of library (copies enclosed).
16 November 1967: Special meeting of Society to consider approval of Minute of Lease.
16 November 1967: Annual Business meeting. The Librarian's report on the sale of the library at Sotheby's on the 13-14 November 1967 and newspaper cuttings reporting sale of books for £26,903 are enclosed following the minute of this meeting.
4 December 1967: Meeting between representatives of the University and the Society to discuss amended draft of proposed Minute of Lease (enclosed).
11 January 1968: Council meeting. Reference to copying of McGrigor papers by RAMC and return of Gregory papers.
1 February 1968: Special meeting of Society: 16 November 1967. Meeting held to discuss the Minute of Lease (drafted by the University of Aberdeen and approved by the Council) and statement from the President [copies enclosed]. The lease clarified the terms under which the University let the building at Foresterhill for use by the Society. |
