1922 Council Meeting - 2 November. Contains printed copy of memorial to the Secretary for Scotland requesting permission to rename Society 'The Royal Medico-Chirurgical Society of Aberdeen'; The Curator of the Aberdeen Art Gallery was to be asked to examine and report on the condition of the portraits; Mr. Fraser, the Town Librarian, had written on behalf of the Public Library Committee gifting 'Report of the Establishment of the Medical Library of Reciprocity in Aberdeen' to the Society. Society Meeting - 2 November. Copy of letter received from the Secretary of the Joint Hospital Accommodation Scheme noting Sites and Buildings Sub-Committee's assessment of six possible sites for scheme and its preference for the site at Burnside-Foresterhill. It was agreed to issue a reply stating the Society's approval of the suggested Burnside-Foresterhill site. Annual Business Meeting - 23 November. Obituary of Dr. David Maver; Copies of Council Report for 1921-22, Librarian's Report and Statement of Accounts for year ending 11 November 1922; Election of office-bearers and President, Dr. Alexander Ogston [GP and anaesthetist to the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary - designed the Ogston Mask for the administration of ether.] Report of Annual Dinner held in the hall on 15 December 1922.
1923 Council Meeting - 22 February. Letters enclosed relating to dispute with the North Parish Church Hall Trustees regarding ground at the back of the Hall. [Also see minute of 3 May and 1 November.] Society Meeting - 25 October. Presidential Address delivered by Dr. Ogston: 'Observations on some modern methods of general anaesthesia' [no copy enclosed]. Council Meeting - 15 November. Proposal to hold Annual Dinner at some other location rather than on the Society's premises. Annual Business Meeting - 22 November. Obituary of Emeritus Professor Finlay; Copies of Council Report for 1922-23, Librarian's Report and Statement of Accounts enclosed; Election of office-bearers and President, Dr. George Mellis Duncan. Note of Annual Dinner held in the Hall on the 14 December 1923 [copy of toast list enclosed].
1924 Society Meeting - 17 January. Paper delivered by Mr. Frederick K. Smith on gallstones. Council Meeting - 7 February. Note of four books added to Library including 'Diseases of the Throat, Nose and Ear' by McKenzie. Society Meeting - 6 March. Tortoiseshell and brass inkstand presented to Society by Miss P. C. MacQuillan in memory of her father; Dr. J. F. Christie read a paper on tuberculosis of the skin with special reference to 'Lupus Vulgaris'. Special Meeting - 22 May. Address delivered by Mr. J. W. Bowden of Edinburgh: 'The Principle of Early Active Movement in Relation to Fractures of the Upper Extremity'. Society Meeting - 5 June. Detailed notes are provided of the discussion on insulin [continued in Special Meeting held on 10 June]. Special Meeting - 7 October. The purpose of this meeting was to allow Sir Norman Walker and other representatives of the Hospital Services (Scotland) Committee an opportunity to hear the views of the medical profession on the hospital problem in Aberdeen. They asked for information on the adequacy of accommodation in the Royal Infirmary, Secondary and Cottage Hospitals in the neighbourhood, the efficiency of the Ambulance Service and the supply of trained nurses, answers being supplied by, among others, Professor Hay and Professor Mackintosh. Society Meeting - 30 October. Presidential Address: 'Tumours of the Breast'. Annual Business Meeting - 20 November. Enclosed: Council's Report, 1923-24, Statement of Accounts and Librarian's Report. In the latter it is noted: 'There is no striking remark to make with regard to the year's working, and one can but repeat what has been said in former years, that the Library appears to be used only to a very limited extent by the members and that there are still a few who forget to sign the book…I have received from Dr. Wilson, Huntly, an old book of date 1799 containing several dissertations on medical subjects, one of the articles, a thesis, being an article by Sir James Macgrigor [sic]…'. Dr. Peter Howie was elected President; note of donation of £100 received from War Bureau Surplus. Note of Annual Dinner held in the Hall on the 19 December 1924. An ivory toasting hammer was gifted to Society by the President.
1925 Society Meeting - 5 February. Obituary of Sir James Mackenzie. Society Meeting - 5 March. Demonstration of several clinical cases. Society Meeting - 2 April. Paper entitled 'Tales of Mystery and Imagination' delivered by Dr. Robert S. Lockhart. Society Meeting - 7 May. Obituary of Dr. Robert M. Wilson; Sir Henry Gray, Montreal, thanked Society for his election as Honorary member; Papers: 'Pediatric Experiences in America' and 'three cases of neo-natal haemorrhage due to rarer causes'. Society Meeting - 29 October. Presidential Address: 'The Medical Hand in Modern Industry'. Annual Business Meeting - 26 November. Enclosed: Council's Report, 1924-25, Statement of Accounts and Honorary Librarian's Report. Dr. James Crombie elected President; letters acknowledging condolences offered by Society following death of Queen Mother, Queen Alexandra. 1926 Society Meeting - 3 June. Reference to death of Sir James Cantlie, Honorary member; discussion: 'The State and the Doctor of the Future' [continued at Special Meeting held on the 17 June]. Society Meeting - 28 October. Copy of President's speech marking display of 'the beautiful tablet to the memory of the members of the Society who fell in the war'; Presidential Address: 'The Treatment of Fractures of the Mandible'. Council Meeting - 4 November. Cost of War Memorial recorded as £65.18.8; copy of letter enclosed from Trustees of Mr. Thomas Primrose's Trust offering sum of £300 for patients in need of help towards paying medical expenses [also see minute of 19 November]. 1927 Special Meeting of Council - 11 January. Report of Sub-Committee on the Primrose Trust was read and approved. [A copy of the Sub-Committee's Report is enclosed as is a copy of the notice sent to members informing them of the procedure to be followed in order to obtain a grant for a patient and a photograph of the War Memorial Plaque.] Society Meeting - 13 January. Dr. Robert Richards presented a paper: 'A note on some cases of dysentery in Aberdeen'. [There follows several blank pages. It is noted that space had been left to record the report of the meetings relating to the new Joint Hospital Scheme held on the 19 and 27 January 1927 but that this was written on a separate document now in the Society's safe.] Special Meeting of Society - 17 February. Discussion of solutions relating to terms of will of late Miss Annie Mary Fraser. Society Meeting - 7 April. 'The President expressed the Society's satisfaction at the launching of the Joint Hospital Scheme, and paid special tribute to the services of Emeritus Professor Hay, Professor A. W. Mackintosh and Lord Provost Lewis'. Doctors James A. Stephen and Edward Walker read papers on 'Infant feeding with special reference to lactic acid milk'. Society meeting - 27 October. Pasteur tablet now on display; Presidential Address: 'A talk about skin diseases with perhaps special reference to treatment'. Special meeting of Council - 24 November. Designs for Presidential gown were submitted and provisionally approved. Annual Business Meeting - 24 November. Report of Council, Statement of Accounts and Honorary Librarian's Report enclosed. Dr. Thomas Fraser elected President. Report of Dounders' Dinner held in Palace Hotel, 10 December. 'A feature of the evening was the wearing by the President of the new Presidential Gown'. [A colour painting of the gown and seals of the Society is enclosed.] 1928 Reference made to appointment of Professor Marnoch and Professor Mackintosh to His Majesty's Household in Scotland at Council and Society meetings of 5 April. [A dinner was held in their honour on the 17 May, the toast list of which is enclosed in the minutes.] Dr. Alexander Lyall presented a paper on 'Basal Metabolism in Clinical Medicine' at latter meeting. Society meeting - 7 June. This was devoted to an appreciation of the work of Dr. William Harvey. Society meeting - 25 October. Presidential Address: 'Retrospect and Prospect'. Dr. Fraser makes reference in his address to the future of medical profession in Aberdeen and noted the need for cooperation among all parties involved in coordinationg the Joint Hospital Scheme. Annual Business Meeting - 22 November. Report of Council, Statement of Accounts and Librarian's Report enclosed. Professor Alexander Low was appointed President. Report of Founders' Dinner held in Palace Hotel, 15 December. Professor J. J. R. Macleod was among the guests.
1929 Society meeting - 7 February. Tribute paid to Sir Alexander Ogston (1844-1929). Society meeting - 6 June. Demonstration of pathological and anatomical specimens. Society meeting - 5 December. Dr. J. Ross Mackenzie opened a discussion on the pre-operative preparation and the post-operative convalescence of the surgical patient.
1930 Society meeting - 5 June. Dr. Robert Richards read a paper on carbon-monoxide poisoning and its medico-legal significance. Society meeting - 30 October. Presidential address delivered by Dr. Charles Forbes on the family doctor in relation to the 'wage-earning classes and the poor' (typescript notes of talk enclosed).
1931 Society meeting - 2 April. Dr. Greig Anderson showed the case of a man diagnosed with cerebral thrombosis involving the lateral medulla and Mr. Davidson a woman in whom a bilateral painless nodular renal enlargement was evident on palpation.
1932 Society meeting - 3 March. Professor Davidson read a paper on the treatment of Addison's disease and Dr. Cleghorn a paper on the physiological effect of an extract of adrenal cortex.
1933 Society meeting - 7 December. Dr. Morgan read a paper on sex hormones, their physiological and clinical significance.
1934 Council meeting - 7 June. Reference to printing of 300 copies of Mabel Allardyce's account of the library. [Minute of meeting of trustees of Cadenhead Bequest, held on the 5 June, is enclosed at this point.] 1935 Society meeting - 7 February. Sir Harold Gillies addressed the Society on 'Some Principles of Plastic Surgery'. Society meeting - 2 May. Dr. Lawrence presented a paper: 'Diabetic Emergencies and the General Practitioner'.
1936 Society meeting - 6 February. Tribute to Sir John Marnoch enclosed. Society meeting - 7 May. Professor Cruickshank addressed the Society on 'Some recent views on Cardiac Metabolism'. Society meeting - 3 December. Dr. Hill and Mr. Gordon Bruce addressed the Society on the 'Medical and Surgical Aspects of Toxic Goitre'.
1937 Society meeting - 14 January. Tribute to Professor Cash, Dr. Skinner and Professor MacWilliam enclosed. Society meeting - 4 February. Dr. Alexander Lyall opened a discussion on the problems of obesity from the laboratory and clinic point of view and Dr. Grieve from the point of view of the physician in practice.
